Information the app processes
The app stores your shop domain and installation settings, Shopify session credentials, product and optional variant identifiers, titles, descriptions and selections, and discovery-file draft content. A Shopify session can also include the user name, email, locale, and account flags Shopify supplies. The app does not request customer, order, or inventory access. You do not need to provide a storefront password or crawler signature to use the app. Public-page checks require a publicly accessible storefront.
During checks, the app requests public storefront pages without your Shopify cookies or storefront password. It stores the requested and final URLs, status, redirect details, observation time, response hash, bounded text evidence, and normalized product, variant, price, availability, currency, and locale fields needed to explain results. It does not retain complete storefront response bodies. Read-only Markets data is inspected in memory to identify request context; the full Markets snapshot is not stored. A uniquely verified Market ID and its evidence source may be stored with a result.
The app also stores scan and job state, rule outcomes, issue history, quota usage, security records, and first-party activity events. These records are used to run checks and monitoring, create private previews, explain findings, enforce limits, provide support, and protect the service.
How information is used and retained
Terminal scan history, rule results, activity events, and webhook delivery receipts are normally retained for 30 days. Evidence still needed by an open issue or active job can remain longer. Shop settings, product selections, file drafts, issues, and daily usage aggregates do not have a separate time-based expiry and remain with the shop's app data until deletion.
Uninstalling disables monitoring, cancels pending work, and removes the Shopify session. Other shop app data is retained until Shopify sends a shop data-redaction request. A verified request deletes the shop record and its app-owned records from the primary database. Deletion timing for production backups depends on the configured backup service and is described below.
Hosting, service providers, and deletion
The AILab AEO app runs on Fly.io Machines in iad. Shop data is stored in a PostgreSQL database on the existing ai-image-translator-db Fly app, a single-node unmanaged Postgres deployment. Shopify provides the merchant platform and Admin API used by the app.
Service providers: Shopify provides the merchant platform and APIs. Fly.io provides application hosting and the PostgreSQL service.
Fly.io creates daily block-level snapshots of the PostgreSQL volume, with the current retention setting of five days. A verified Shopify data-redaction request deletes app-owned records from the primary database. Copies of data present in earlier volume snapshots may remain until those snapshots expire under this five-day retention setting. These snapshots are not PostgreSQL logical backups or point-in-time recovery. AEO has not completed a production restore rehearsal or independently verified deletion after snapshot expiry.
